Jimmy Kent
Genre-hopping, overqualified singer-songwriter seeks appreciative and enthusiastic audience for hour of originals and covers
A singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, piano), Jimmy has been on stage since he was 4 years old, and knows how to weave a narrative in words and music. He's attended three of the best music schools in the world (Berklee College of Music, Belmont University, Academy of Contemporary Music), and has performed at Ronnie Scott's, the London Astoria, the Garage (Islington), Bush Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Houses of Parliament.
Jimmy is a virtual jukebox, blending the timeless and the tasteful to take you wherever and whenever you want to go. With a huge repertoire spanning pop, rock, jazz, swing, musical theatre, funk, soul, folk, Americana, and more, you can be listening to Frank Sinatra one minute, Stevie Wonder the next, with a pit-stop in James Taylor country, and a big finish with The Eagles. His respect for the song and the artist are well-balanced with his drive to make the music his own.
And there's plenty of original and thoughtful music on offer too. Have you wondered what it must be like to date if you're Bigfoot? Do you want to encourage your kids to enjoy and protect the environment? How about selections from an orchestral rock concept album based on Greek mythology, Helen & I, by his band, Jimmy K & The Collectibles? From chess to hypocrisy to nuclear war, you've probably never heard a set like this before.
